As part of our ongoing partnership with TGH/USF Health, we have created an informational video regarding Infection Prevention with COVID-19.
It is vital information that you may have heard before but these are steps we can take to protect ourselves and those around us.
Our local experts in the field of public health and infectious disease joined me, along with Chief of Staff Michael McAuley, to discuss:
- Transmission of and the incubation period for COVID-19
- Impact of COVID-19 on children
- Strategies to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in our schools
- What we can expect this fall and winter with flu season and COVID-19

The medical experts from Tampa General Hospital and USF Health, including Dr. Patricia Emmanuel, Chair, Department of Pediatrics and Dr. Claudia Espinoza, Associate Professor of Pediatrics, at USF, and Peggy Thompson, RN, Director of Infection Prevention at TGH, shared their insights as we continue to deal with the challenges of COVID-19 on our community.

Congratulations to Ms. Finitz, Mr. Florio and Ms. Richmond each of whom are being awarded for their commitment to excellence in education!
- Ms. Sara Finitz, kindergarten teacher, has been named Grady Teacher of the Year
- Mr. Steven Florio, Music Specialist, has been named Ida S. Baker Diversity Educator of the Year
- Ms. Sandra Richmond, Principal's Secretary, has been named Non-Instructional Support Person of the Year.
We are so lucky to have these amazing teachers and staff supporting our school and students!
Grady PTA was awarded a COVID-19 Relief Fund Grant sponsored by TikTok.
This grant will be used to make sure every student at the school has the materials they need to complete assignments and Be able to continue with art and science projects without sharing resources. The grant focuses in 3 areas:
1) Basic supplies for students in need. We have created 35 bags with basic supplies.
2) Art materials for art projects and for Reflections Art Competition. (A Black Fine point sharpie and a set of watercolors will be available for all K-5th Grady students, distribution for eLearners TBD).
3) Science Kits (We are working on finalizing lists of supplies by grade level, for b&m and eLearners).
For more information on the steps that will be taken for anyone who tests positive for COVID-19, and anyone who comes in contact with a person who tests positive for the virus.

Any students who will need to have medication at Grady should call the school and set an appointment with Ms. Rehmann, our school nurse. Ms. Rehmann will get all the necessary paperwork ready for you. Once all the paperwork is complete, call Ms. Rehmann again to schedule an appointment to drop off the medicine.
