Do you know about the Education Referendum and how it will impact our school?

On the ballot this year, our district is facing an extremely important vote. The half-penny sales tax would invest $131 million in our county’s students and schools each year for ten years. The funding would be spent on specific projects to improve our public schools—the list across our district includes replacing air conditioners, fixing leaky roofs, new classroom technology, upgrading safety and security systems, and 4 new schools to relieve overcrowding. Please see the projects scheduled for Grady, as well as other schools in our area, right now at Education Referendum Projects.

You can find some of the frequently asked questions about the half-penny sales tax on our district’s website: https://sdhc.k12.fl.us/doc/2296/investing-in-students/resources/faq-142/.

If you’d like to get your questions about the education referendum answered in person, you’re invited to attend one of our scheduled Town Hall Meetings with Superintendent Jeff Eakins and our district staff. For the full schedule, please click on Town Hall Meetings.

The Education Referendum will be the final item on the ballot. You must be registered to vote to have a say in this election by Tuesday, October 9th. You can register right now, online, at http://votehillsborough.org/.

Please share this important information with your neighbors. Education has a direct impact on everyone in our community. When we invest in our students and our schools, our entire community succeeds.

Please join us on Thursday, October 18th for a Halloween themed school skate party at United Skates of America. Dress in costume to skate and support the Grady Elementary PTA.

Pre-sale tickets are available until Tuesday, October 16th.

Pre-sale tickets are $6 per person and include regular skate rental. Skating begins at 5:30pm for pre-sale tickets and 6:00pm for sales at the door and skate night will conclude at 8:00pm.
