PTA Updates

We enclose some pictures of today’s Storybook Parade:  Storybook Parade Pictures.

The Pasta for Pennies Program will begin on Thursday, November 4.  Grady students will be collecting donations for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) supporting the mission to cure leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma and Hodgkin's disease as well as improve the quality of life of patients and their families.  Students will receive a small box to take home where they can collect pennies, nickels, dimes, etc. -- even dollars and checks (made out to LLS)!  They then bring the money into their homeroom teacher.  All money donations are due by Thursday, November 10.   Money cannot be accepted  after that date.  The homeroom with the most money collected will win a pasta party from Olive Garden!

Picture Retakes are on November 8, if your child was absent or you were not pleased with the prior pictures.   Please come dressed with a big Grady smile!

Grady Elementary has completed the PTA sponsored Reflections Art Program.  During their art classes, Grady students in the first to fifth grades created their own art project based on the theme “What’s Your Story?”.   The art projects were completed about 10 days ago and many of them were submitted for professional judging. The judging took place on Monday, October 24.  The professional art judge was struck by the creativity and talent of our students and also had high remarks for Ms. Grigsby and the Grady art program.  To see pictures of the contest entries that were judged, please click here:  Reflections Art Contest Submissions.  The Reflections Art Contest participants whose projects were judged in the show will be attending an ice cream social and awards ceremony on Thursday afternoon.  At the awards ceremony there will be 1st, 2nd, 3rd and Honorable Mention ribbons.  The art judge said that it was very hard to judge this show and if she awarded an Honorable Mention ribbons, it means that there was something particularly interesting or creative about the student’s work of art.

Grady’s after school photography club is having a photography show this Friday, November 4, at Kahwa Coffee.  If you would like to see the work of Grady photographers, please click here for more information.  Grady Photography Club Show.

The Grady Annual  Thanksgiving Luncheon will be on November 15, so please put it on your calendar now.  A paper sign up form will come home in backpacks later this week.
