PTA Updates

Auditions for first and second graders for the Dig It musical take place tomorrow, March 23, during the school day.  To prepare for the audition, please have students practice with the linked practice script:  Script & Permission Form.  Please bring the signed permission slip to the audition.   For more information on Spring Musical Auditions, please click here:  Spring Musical Auditions.  Please contact Music Specialist, Steven Florio, at [email protected] with any questions.

Please mark your calendars for Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week, which takes place from May 1 to May 5.   The theme of Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week  is Teachers Are Our Superheroes!  During this week, there will be daily opportunities for us to demonstrate our appreciation for the hard work and compassion of Grady’s teachers and staff.  Right now we are seeking donations of gift cards and gift baskets that will be distributed to teachers and staff during a mid-week raffle drawing.  Please bring the gift cards or baskets to the desk in the front office.  Leave a note on the gift card or gift basket if you want your family’s name called out on the morning show at the time of the drawing.  Additionally, if you are able to donate goods or services (massages, exercise classes) that could help us make the week even more special, please contact Coordinator Lauren Fitzgerald at [email protected].

In today’s PTA board meeting we funded $200+ for fourth grade’s poetry book program, funded $150 for a program that helps teach writing, and funded $400 for Scholastic materials for the entire first grade.   We have additional mini-grant monies left, so teachers, if you have a mini-grant request please contact Sandra Richmond or Mini-Grant Coordinator, Rachel Zysk ([email protected]) with your ideas.  We also received an update on our latest large-scale expenditure, the giant Pavilion fans.  We learned that the school district has provided us with information about the approved electricians who will install the fans.  This is a long process but we are moving in the right direction.
