PTA Updates

The PTA needs your help!!!

January 13, 2022 - March 15, 2022

Dear Tiger Families,

Our PTA seeks your support and engagement to improve the condition of the intersection of W. Bay to Bay Boulevard at S. Lois Avenue.

Although Bay to Bay is located in the City of Tampa, it is a county road. An interlocal agreement between the city and Hillsborough County requires the county to pay for the installation of traffic signals on the entire County Road system, including roads in the city. On March 15 of each year, the city gives the county a list of priorities for county-funded improvements. An all-way traffic signal has been requested for this intersection for the past three years.

Presently, Hillsborough County has approved, but has not installed Rapid Response Flashing Beacons, to be placed adjacent to the existing crosswalk. This is a fine temporary fix, but it is not enough.

Therefore, we ask that you, our school’s families, engage with Hillsborough County Commissioners to demand (1) immediate installation of the Rapid Response Flashing Beacons, and (2) expedited planning and engineering of a traffic light in the intersection. We must demand that Hillsborough County deliver safer conditions for our families.

Please click on this link, Email Commissioners and select “Email All Commissioners,” describe the Subject as “Bay to Bay at Lois” and put this message in the message box:

Dear County Commission, please immediately install the Rapid Response Flashing Beacons that are already approved for the intersection of W. Bay to Bay Blvd. at S. Lois Ave., and (2) please expedite planning and engineering of an all-way traffic signal in the intersection. This is an important issue to me and my family. Thank you.

Once you have sent your emails, please share this information with your friends and neighbors. It is up to us to demand safety for our children and our community. Thank you for your efforts and time.

Sincerely,

The Grady PTA
